Golden Globe was developed as a categorical improvement to Yukon Gold with higher yields, better storability, and higher percentage of #1 grade potatoes. Sets 8-9 tubers per plant. It has great disease resistance package including resistance to PVY. Taste is good and fairly mild. This variety does not respond well to high heat or clay soils, but it does have tolerance for frost.

Growing Guide: Grows best in medium weight soils with 80% sand. Recommended 11 inch spacing.

The only factor prohibiting Organic Certification is the application of a foliar acid to desiccate the vines before harvest. The use of the desiccant (synthetic) dramatically helps reduce spread of aphid-carried disease in a crop, which can easily ruin an entire crop of seed potatoes as disease tolerance levels for Certification are extremely low.
