Shipping FAQ

What is your refund and replacement policy?

Sweet Potato Slips: We guarantee a full refund for any slips that arrive to our customers in an unsatisfactory condition that are shipped via UPS 2nd Day Air or UPS Next Day Air. Please contact us immediately through phone or email after receiving your slips if you have any concerns regarding your purchase. If possible (depending on availability) we will send replacement plants to offset documented loss or damage.

We do not guarantee viability for slips shipped via UPS Ground that may have wilted or arrive in bad condition due to prolonged transit time (exceeding 2 days transit).

Seed Potatoes: We have very few issues with Seed Potatoes, as they are extremely shelf stable and ship well. However, if you have any concerns regarding your purchase, please contact us immediately after receiving your seed potatoes and we will discuss options available to resolve the issue.

When will my order ship?

Sweet Potato Slips: Slips will ship on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. However please note that slip shipping dates are subject to change based on growing conditions and outside forces that are beyond our control (weather, etc.)

Seed Potatoes: Seed potatoes will begin shipping February 1, 2022. We ship out orders ASAP, once overnight temperatures reach 40 degrees or above in your shipping location as well as along the route that your seed will travel.

Which shipping option should I choose?

Sweet Potato Slips: We recommend using either UPS 2nd Day Air or UPS Next Day Air no matter where you live. Both of these methods guarantee that your order will be delivered within 2 business days and your plants will arrive in good, healthy condition.

LTL Freight is recommended for large orders over 300lbs, please call us at (828) 900-9099 to arrange shipping via this option.

We do not recommend shipping via UPS Ground, as a 2-day delivery date is not guaranteed. Please keep in mind that slips are live clippings of plants and long transit times decrease the viability of your slips. However, we leave this important decision up to you. According to UPS, transit times for UPS Ground from our packing facility in Western North Carolina are as follows: 1 business day for anywhere within Western North Carolina; 2-3 business days in surrounding states (NC, SC, VA, GA, TN and AL); 3 business days in KY, WV and FL; and 4-5 business days for all other states. If you are living in a remote rural zip code your time in transit may be slightly extended because your area may be serviced only 2-3 times a week.

Seed Potatoes: UPS Ground is recommended for orders under 750lbs. It is the most cost-effective way to ship seed potatoes and unlike slips, seed potatoes are very shelf stable. LTL freight is recommended for large orders over 750lbs, please call us at (828) 900-9099 to arrange shipping via this option.

Why does it cost so much to ship my order?

Please understand that we do not make any money on shipping. Shipping is assessed using automatic rate calculation tools linked direct live linked to UPS. For LTL Freight, we source the most affordable carrier to ship to your location and charge the exact cost that they charge us.

Where do you ship?

Certain plants and seeds cannot be shipped to some states due to USDA restrictions. We do not ship to California, Mississippi, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the US Virgin Islands. We do not ship anywhere outside the USA, P.O. Boxes, or APO/FPO addresses.

Can I cancel or revise my order after it has shipped?

We do not accept cancellations or revisions to orders once they have been shipped.

May I pick up my order?

We request that you email or call us to schedule a pick-up time with us at (828) 900-9099 or growersupport@sproutmountainfarms.com. Pick-Ups by Appointment only.

Due to the high volume and unique packing process for sweet potato slips, ALL orders will be shipped to growers. Pick-ups for sweet potato slips are not supported. Last minute weather conditions, coordination with USDA inspectors and zero tolerance loading deadlines for multiple shipping partners daily means pick-ups are a "no-can-do". It's a rodeo each year and we appreciate your understanding.

Onion Sets and Seed Garlic are not available for pick up, since they ship directly from the farm which is a remote location and not accessible to the general public.
